Garrick Theatre Bar

Client brief:

Stockport based construction company, CMP was commissioned by Stockport Garrick Theatre Trust to carry out a refurbishment programme to redesign the bar and toilet facilities at the theatre. The contracted architect , Rachel Moody asked Composite Imaging to design murals for them, that were ‘edgy, dramatic & modern’ to add a contemporary feel to the newly designed bar & toilet facilities. The Stockport Garrick is the oldest Little Theatre in the country and has staged plays continuously since it was formed in 1901. Our brief was to design mural wall coverings incorporating a selection of images from the theatre archives & memorabilia. These had to be converted into a digital format, in order to create two floor to ceiling contemporary black & white montages to transform the bar and three murals for the ladies toilet cubicles.

Materials used:

The murals were created on a top quality Vinyl non woven backed paper. Click here to find out more about our mural products

The Artwork Solution:

“Dear Paulette and Jackie, Just a quick note of thanks to you both for your hard work and creative input into the bespoke artwork for the Stockport Garrick Theatre’s refurbishment. I was very impressed by your understanding of the vision for the theatre murals, and your ability to interpret this with such sensitivity for the history and character of the theatre. The layers of detail in each mural have been carefully crafted to keep our attention and draw us deeper into the history of the theatre, something the theatre wasn’t able to communicate. They are modern and edgy and have fulfilled the brief on every level. We found you both a pleasure to work with and appreciated your hands-on approach to resolving matters off-site and on. I would be pleased to recommend you and look forward to working with you again. Best wishes for the future.” Rachel Moody, Yoohoo Design.
